Professional Experience
Mike Nelson has overall responsibility for managing CBRE's Portfolio Optimization Group on a national basis. He assists both private and public sector clients in developing portfolio optimization plans, headquarters strategies, and feasibility analyses with special expertise in capital structure optimization, leasing/ownership strategies, financing strategies and accounting and tax implications of real estate transactions.
Mr. Nelson sets realistic expectations that qualify and quantify the occupancy options, identify broad accounting and tax issues, and model the impact of the various options being considered on the financial statements and key financial ratios. His in-depth financial engineering and value-added consulting strategies help drive shareholder value.
Mr. Nelson has over 20 years experience managing large real estate portfolios, performing transacton management services for large occupiers, raising capital for private real estate funds and structuring complex real estate transactions for institutional and corporate owners and users. Prior to his current position, Mr. Nelson spent seven years leading CBRE’s Financial Consulting Group on a national basis.
